Yeah, I really like those big ole knobs. I'm hoping the new NR Thunderbird has them, in fact!

It didn't work!  The jack socket is very rattly and worked intermittently.  It needed a bit of a set up (done acousticaly).  I've not played it in anger yet.

Well, the barrel jack arrived...installed.  The Hipshot Supertone arrived today as well.  Very happy.  It sounds the nuts to be honest.  A bit phatter than my whitey.

Sweeeet.

I have the same Ebony Tbird - do you like the Hipshot Supertone on it better than the stock 3point?

I have an ebony Bird (2001 model) with a Hipshot bridge and I like it a lot. I know some people don't like the look of it, but it blends in pretty good against the black paint. I like the bridge better than the 3-point but I don't hate the 3-point, just not my favorite bridge. This isn't the best shot but here it is on my ebony Bird.

I got it from a local guy that has an Ebay shop. I have the matching truss rod cover as well.

He doesn't make them with the logo or Bird anymore. The guy that did a lot of work on my basses also worked for the Ebay guy. He told me a story about Gibson setting him up with everything to create correct logos and insignias on his products, only later to demand he stop using them. No idea if it is a true story but it wouldn't surprise me if it is.

Some of the pic's make the guard/trc look a little washed out, but it is more like the first pic in person. I think the carbon fiber looks good against the black finish. I refer to this one as my "StealthBird".
