I wasn't aware this (https://www.facebook.com/OldGuitarsInBlackAndWhite/photos/a.455296291306240.1073741828.455291964640006/608991812603353/?type=3&theater) existed. Only 17 (or maybe 21) made. A must-have for the serious collector, don't you agree? :vader:
-
I disagree!!!
I've seen one of those before, way back on a blurry pic, but had forgotten about their existence.
-
Let's find more ways to spend Uwe's money! (and live vicariously thru him) ;D
-
It's a black and white photo, so we can't see the finish.
-
I'd say this was an essential item for any "serious" kollector... how could they do without one, if they were kompletist in nature... I'd have thought it would have played on the conscience, not to have one...
-
I'm surprised Uwe doesn't have two of these... :o
-
As regards Epis, I'm not that bad a completist!
I hate your snide remarks about my ailment. 8)

Which snide remarks do you prefer? ;D

... and squirrels, sheds, Heilcats (sic), Panzers or Ritchie Blackmore have not been mentioned once... er...?
Anyway, it's not an ailment, it's a kondition prevalent in select areas of the kontinent...
Edit... just how many Epi's do you currently own, Herr Hornung...?
-
Wow, a short scale bass with 6 guitar tuners, how cool is that? :P This forum will be your ultimate doom, Uwe, and you know it.

He already has the Gibson version.

Do not help him Dave; he must resist this alone... or cave in to cheers from the rest of us. This is just the way it must be. The trials of Uwe.
-
Enter Uwe...
To Kollect, or not to Kollect; that is the question...
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous Outposters
Or to take arms against a sea of abusive humour, and by chuckling, enjoy them.
To try, to Kollect no more; and by a Kollection to say we end the heartache, and the thousand varitions of timbers and fins that flesh is tempted by...
'Tis a consummation, devoutly to be wish'd. To lie, asleep; to sleep, perchance to dream of a 2016 Gibson bass release: ay, there's the rub! For in that sleep of death what dreams of bass's may come, when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause. There's the respect that makes calamity of so long life, for who would bear the whips and scorns of Gibson's Custom Shop fore declining my double-neck build...

OK, I was thinking more Greek mythology than that early adopter of emo, but sure, good one.
-
:P :P :P

Ah... then you mean something like Uwe and the Argoposters... or maybe Epiphone in the Underworld...?
Well... there is Homer's Uwesey...
Uwesseus, the hero, tied to the mast whilst the crew of the Outpost, their ears plugged with potting wax, for fear of suffering incurable GAS from hearing the sound of the Kalamazoo as they sailed past the Island of Nashville, where they would be dashed on the rocky shores of emptypokets, bereft of life... though Uwesseus pleaded with the crew to release him from his bindings, he was bound tighter, for the crew heard not the sound of Kalamazoo, but he let it be known that when the danger was past, it was safe to unplug and play acoustically once more... ;)

I can't see the trees for the jungle of hidden agendas in this thread!
I have a both the SG shape and the EB-2 look Gibson EB-6 versions, that is sufficient for me even though the Epi version might be rarer than both.
-
Silly mortal, you cannot rationalize this away, for therein that last sentence lies your doom. Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

    Jake, you're my favourite Marvel villain!

Well, well, well, look what Rick Turner posted (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154336797008586&set=a.10151105861733586.465810.675798585&type=3&theater) on FB -- Rick playing what he calls an Epi Coronet six string bass in 1968. Appears to be the same as what the pic in my original post called a Newport. With six strings and the guitar style pickguard, the Coronet name makes more sense.
In the comments, someone says that Rick King at Guitar Maniacs in Tacoma had one for sale the last time he had talked to him. It's not listed in their gBase listings but if it's still there, can we all agree that Uwe needs it? :vader:
-
Hasn't bitten yet has he...

He's busy formulating his response.

Here's a pic of Noel Redding with one:

Dunno how many there were, but if there were only something like 90 Newport Deluxes and 25 Newports w/Fuzztones made, I can't imagine there were more EB-6 Newports than that.
