Title: Deimel Bass
Post by: Basvarken on April 27, 2013, 04:21:00 AM
After seeing and hearing the video I've been suffering a bad case of GAS...

The three Lollar pickups sound awesome.
And the switching possibilities are dazzling.

Wow! It's like an old Les Paul bass, T-bird, Jaguar in one.

I had it in my hands at the Messe, but didn't plug it in. I believe Peter Boer did, Rob!

Cool looking bass but the sound... not so much.

I can tell who is on FB here.  That link just popped up on me, and I was about to share it here.  At least we know what the Lollar pickups can do.

I saw it on a Dutch bassguitar forum. Peter Boer is there too and he posted a pic of him playing this bass.

I have it at home now for a review in De Bassist.

It is truly a monster!

I'm not incited to buy it - I have enough basses! - but it seems a sensible product. And it's nice to see a boutique bass trying to look vintage without emulating Fender all the way though structure (bolt on) and woods bear the California stamp. I knew it would find followers here.

Sounds cool, looks cool, but WOW that's a lot of money!

It's certainly versatile, if you need it. Nice looker, too. I would be just as happy with a neck pickup only.

Yes, it's a lot of money, more than I'd pay for a bass. Not familiar with the company, hopefully he knows his market.

Agreed, the price is quite high. But I can assure you get whole lot of bass guitar for that money.

Having all these pickups does not mean you have to use them all.
It's the fact that each and every different person -all of them with a different taste- can find the right sound.
To have the choice is very cool. You don't have to use all the combinations.

Right. I'm not being critical, just talking about my preferences.

Everything has started to spin and blur... what is that bright light...?

It's quite a price, but if you buy a Fender Custom Shop, even a American Vintage Reissue... Not talking about other boutique brands. I'm quite jealous on Rob that he was the one reviewing it:(

I just shot them an e-mail about the pricing then found it here.  Shame it's so much.  I'm gassing for another TB and my immediate thought was that it would be pitched around the same price.

Frank Deimel replied to me earlier.  Euro price is 2,100 euro/$2,800/£1,825.  It's a lovely bass, but too rich for me :(

Need to find a benefactor (Uwe?).

You're right, it's in the range of what a Fender Custom Shop would sell for here new. They've gone up quite a bit.
