Story here:
http://www.prefixmag.com/news/john-paul-jones-confirms-reports-that-led-zeppelin/22604/
I made a comment on the article---that Jack Russell would be the only worthy choice if Plant ain't gonna do it.
Coverdale has said he is NOT interested in joining Zep & firmly but politely insisted on keeping all talk on his site strictly WS related.

I'm not a Zep fan, so I'm wondering if fans would consider it a real reunion without Plant.
-
Well, let's call Paul Rodgers and call it Led Zeppelin + Paul Rodgers. It could be nice on his CV of bands he ruined. (Yes, 'ruined' and not 'reunited')

Why not? We'd have half the original 4...same as The Who.
Worth it just to see The Greatest Bassist On Earth! imho
-
but the other members of the Who are dead, not lazy.

If Plant won't do it they need a singer with as much panache and showmanship as Plant has; my vote is for Celine Dion.
-
Neven been a Zep fan - I can't relate with Plant's singing or his lyrics, even though he is in a league of his own -, but Zep touring without Plant as Zep is like Paul McCartney and Ringo hiring two guys and calling themselves The Beatles. Or the Rolling Stones continuing without Mick.
Plant was/is more than the singer of Zep, his voice (more than with other singers because he was never one to transport any relevant lyrical content!) is a key part of Zep's instrumentation and overall sound.
We already have to suffer with "Queen + Paul Rodgers". I have no appetite for "Led Zeppelin + Chris Robinson" or whoever they plan to get. I'm fine with Page and Jones getting back together and recording a new album under a new moniker though.

Pushin' the overemotive Canadians, eh? ;) In that case, may I suggest Shatner? ;D

I thought I was the only one who saw it this way :o
Paul Rodgers has a good voice . I am not one of the many who thinks he is the greatest singer of all time ???
To me, it doesn't matter what he does, it always comes out sounding like Bad Company :-\

Why not call it "The Firm + John Paul Jones" then?

Wow ..... Zep without Plant gives me the shivers. The only singer I ever would consider as a viable replacement would have been Coverdale. I gotta say, after all this time if it's not going to be the three surviving members, why bother?!? That's not to say I wouldn't go .... I mean, JPJ is a fabulous player as is Page ..... it just really wouldn't be the same.

Maybe they should look up Terry Reid again, since he was supposed to be the singer for Zep in the first place.

I haven't even heard his name in a decade or two. Is he alive and well?
I caught him in the late 60s maybe 70. What a voice!!! That would work for me.

i saw reid open for cream in '68. i was very impressed with him back then. can't say the video does much for me, though

Disappointing for sure and NO it wouldn't Led
Zeppelin without Plant. I wouldn't pay money to see it. >:(

I've got to agree. It looks/sounds like he's lost a little juice over the years. I don't get it....... I haven't changed a bit since 68 .

Me neither. It helps that I never look at my old photos.

We're just legends in our own minds. I don't even know who the guy that holds my bass at gigs is. It's not the me that I recall.

The old ones are OK......it's the fuggin new ones that freak me out :o

Either one of the "White" guys would be horrible - Russell or Coverdale. The last thing they need is a Plant wannabe. I don't think they have any intention of calling it Led Zeppelin anyway. Although, having said that, I think the Wilson sisters plus Page, Jones, and Bonham could be pretty bad ass!

Daniel MacMaster was close to sounding like Plant:

Saw them Front Row Center in 1990 with a super hot blonde young lady.
Sadly, Daniel checked out last Spring. Alas
Hey~ I really LOVE The FIRM! Tony Franklin had WILD 80s hair & MEGA CHOPS:

CLOSER is my fav song of theirs. KILLER!!!!
if Zep doesn't reunite in 2009, it'd be cool if The FIRM would!!!!
Here's JPJ with Jon Anderson from the 80s:

Kinda coool, but....
It really needs to be Plant, doesn't it? Plant is vital to ZEP!

Too bad Sandy Denny is long gone tooo
Hey~ They could bring Allison Krauss along for a duet or 3. :D

there can be no reunion without plant. since zep's birth plant has been seen as THE iconic rock god, like it or not. he is the voice of the band and a good bit of it's image. led zep without plant would be a pathetic joke and a sham. why it would be like an elvis show without elvis. ;)
-
All this talk about Zep and the Cream , when the REAL news is that Britney Spears is planning a big comeback tour. This could be even bigger than the Spice Girls reunion :bored: ;)

We've been discussing this on the Yardbirds forum.
I personally could care less about Zeppelin reuniting or not. Page and Plant already did their thing a few years back (and created some new music as well) so what is the big deal now? Throw in some 80's retread Plant wannabe into the mix and it gets even more unappetizing.
The Black Crowes project was a hell of a lot more interesting IMhumbleO. Certainly sounded a lot more fun.
