It looks kind of like an EB-2 with a Fender neck on it but the knobs are wrong and maybe the headstock. It certainly doesn't sound like an EB-2 though.

Yup you're right, it's a Vox Sidewinder IV, after you said that I remember looking at a bunch of different Vox basses the other night and found it, just scroll down:

It was made by Eko of Italy, I have an Eko Hofner copy that sounds much better than a Hofner, much better pickups.

I knew it because I actually played a pair of Constellation IV teardrop Vox hollowbodies as my main basses for 5 or 6 years when I was first playing in my prog rock and then punk days. I still have one of them that has Model One PUPs on it!! The bass player from the Chesterfiled Kings was always trying to get me to sell him one.

My other one got destroyed in a stage mystery and the neck was broken between sets when someone must've knocked it over.

You can hear the built-in onboard distortion and treble/bass boot FX in Entwistles solo!

Great basses, despite the pencil thin short-scale necks.

Pete is playing a Vox Cheetah.

Here's a pic of Larry Graham w/Sly playing the same bass as Entwistle! (halfway down the string)

Vox sidewinder  it is.  smallest neck known to mankind.   one of the first,  if not the first,  active bass made.  Had distortion built in a well as a tuning pitch....Sold mine, sunburst,   last year on feebay.  no real market for them.   who tribute band guy scoped it up.....

I used to have an Italian made 60s Vox Bass. A Saturn IV. Neck was to tiny for me. I love narrow J and T-Bird necks, but I couldn't get used to this. Sold it and I bought a great Burns:)
