Title: 60's and 70's chrome Thunderbird pickup rings???
Post by: Johnbob on September 22, 2010, 01:36:20 AM
Not sure if anyone here knows the answer to this. Are the 60's and 70's chrome Thunderbird pickup rings the same? Do the holes match up? Are the dimensions the same?

Ah....the holes in the rings are the same but as far as the radius on the ends...They are both different.

Yep, larger interior radius on 60s.  I will be doing a run of repros of both in about a month.

Does that mean that a 70's ring wouldn't work with a 60's cover?

You can file the inside radius of the 70's to make it fit.

I WAS WRONG!  Just checked  60s and 70's pup rings...inside radius is the same on both.  The 70's has squarer outside corners than the 60's.  A 70's ring will fit a 60's pup and vice versa.  Sorry.  Baz is correct.
