I picked up a set of covers a while back, absolutely awesome quality. My only problem was they were way too nice and shiny for my beat up old Epiphone. Normally I think the whole idea of "relic-ing" guitars is lame but I wanted the covers to not look out of place with the rest of the nicely tarnished hardware.  I suspended the covers in a sealed container over a pool of white vinegar for about 48 hours each. Its not a 100% match to original hardware but I'm pretty happy with the results. They are nicely dulled and from a distance blend in perfectly.

Sorry for wrecking your beautiful covers Scott  ;D

That's a close enough match. Even if the covers were original they wouldn't necessarily age exactly the same as the other hardware.
