I was saddened to hear this.  He was the epitome of style and class.  People went to Macnee's personal tailor to have suits made like those of John Steed.

He made a wonderful impression. This was the absolute #1 favorite show for me and my closest friends...it was an established event every Friday night.

R.I.P., Patrick.

RIP Patrick/John Steed. I used to watch old reruns of this show as a kid. Always enjoyed it back then, and that might have had a little bit to do with his co-star  ;)

RIP Patrick - Loved The Avengers!

My stage name, Veronica Steed, yeah, from your last name on the show.

Very sad.  The Avengers was also one of my favorite shows.

Have you ever been known to wear an Emma-style leather catsuit? Inquiring minds want to know.

There was a time early on in the band when I weighed all of 150lbs, (I'm 6'1")and I could have pulled it off by adding a bit of butt padding.......
Now, no.
It was a wonderful show and I always liked Patrick and his character very much.

That must go down as the quote of the year, or maybe the decade... ;D

I just loved the show during the Diana Rigg years. The Linda Thorson years were entertaining but not in the same way. Never saw any of the Honor Blackman episodes until YouTube came along.

My favorite Emma episodes were The House That Jack Built, The Girl From AUNTIE, Murdersville, The Joker, and Epic (the one with Z. Z. von Schnerk).

Speaking of Honor Blackman, I remember right after Goldfinger was released, my father looked up from his newspaper and said "some starlet has named herself Pussy Galore!" I had to explain that it was the character's name.  ;D

The script writing on The Avengers was sometimes superb.  The House that Jack Built was one of the very best episodes.

Maybe there is something about being in the spy business (for real or on the screen) which promotes longevity.  George Kennan lived to be 101.  Sean Connery appears to still be doing well at 84.  Of course, being a heavy drinker and smoker like Ian Fleming isn't good at all, though.
