Quite an intriguing bass. Might just have a pop at that. Would love to have seen a pic of it in white...

If it stays cheap: Buy it and refinish it white!

Got it on my watch list now.  We're getting another tax incentive refund.  Believe it or not, the IRS issued one to my late father earlier this year (direct deposit to my account).  Dad passed away over a year ago, and the notice even indicated he was deceased.  We filed late, and are getting ours now.  Go figure.

The routing isn't the only mysterious thing here. Could be okay if it stays cheap, but it's really a pig in a poke.

If I had the money to buy it I would, it's a bargain for a vintage EB bass. And then I would look for a Hartke Halfstack and start playing THIS...

The song I'm refferring to starts at 4:24

I'd get a nice mahog veneer to cover that up (real easy since the hole is repaired), a pair of chocolate barrel knobs, and - with all respect - I'd play Keep A Knocking.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

This bass is certainly retrievable, after all an EB-1 is a pretty stable log of mahogany. The fissure in the neck - even if it goes down deep - can be easily repaired. But with that 69 mudbucker rather than the original singlecoil in it, it won't have you sounding like Jack Bruce did on the Cream reunion. An EB-1 with reissue pups sounds even deeper than an EB-2 from the same era with the highs and mids choked off - we're talking about subsonic territory.
