I like the Schaller M4 look of the Grovers. I can't say the weight of them is a noticible factor on my bass.

Day left on this one, no bites. Love my 07' money so much makes me gas for these too. The toggle is a 3 way pickup selector right? and knobs are v/t/v/t? The earlier unchambered carved tops without the toggle were all active I think. Thoughts?

Glenn and Roger both sound simultaneously drunk and high on coke. I always admired what Nicky Simper did in MKI. Such a nice clean and in the pocket 60's pop fender p bass sound. Love that version of Help.

The thing is, if Gibson ever did this, it would sell at two to three times as much as something like a Bach or Cataldo... and would be outperformed by them, too. And Gibson knows that. Unfortunately, the small market that there is for an authentic T-bird won't be truly happy with anything that Gibson puts out, because they can't make something that true to the original that they'd be comfortable selling for a mass market price point. It would have to be sold at a collector's price point and be made in a very limited run. and no one's gonna spring for that when there are other viable options right now.

Much like Les Paul players are never satisfied with any reissue or 'tribute' line of LP's so Gibson sells artist specific signature reissues that are pretty much vintage accurate for five digits. It's that or something like a Rist.

My buddy has a lot of nice guitars and says his re-issue 3 pickup black beauty Les Paul blows them all away. Gibson is 90% of the way there with the 9 ply neck through construction, something you can't get from any other builder. I don't see how adding a new bridge, chrome hardware and offering the option of one less pickup could change the current price point so drastically.

I'm kind of cave mannish in terms of computers too. I totally agree that having this in Adobe would make for a much better presentation. Maybe I can ask my girlfriend to help me figure out how to go about it without provoking her to tear my head off

Here's what Jack played. I guess he was miffed about how Felix Pappalardi used his bass line from Lawdy Mama and thought it didn't work as well on the newly arranged Strange Brew. Sounds good to me though. One interesting part of the line is when E.C. starts his solo at around the second page of my transcription, Jack pulls of some hefty whole tone bends. I think it works best by bending up to E from the 10th fret of the E string, bending up to D from the 8th fret of the E string and releasing back to the C. The next bar has a bend up to A from the 10th fret of the A string and a release back to G. Have fun folks.

A lot of that Sound Garden tune sounds like Dinosaur Jr. to me. Speaking of the Purple, didn't they throw in some wacky diminished altered stuff on "Super Trouper"?
