Purdy. Ian Hunter played an original I think. Of course the shape is hopeless for a long scale bass. It would be about as balanced as the current US national debt (or Germany's for that matter ...).

That guitar looks a bit strange but in a nice way. Too bad for the ugly Epiphone sign between the pickups.

The originals had it (see here) so it's no surprise to see it on the historic reissue.

I opened my email this morning and I thought the exact same thing: how hard would it be for these putzes to make an Embassy reissue?  Sign me up.

Reissuing a guitar that was worth all of $200 until 10 years ago is amusing.  I await the mutant Tbird version.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Ok, didn't know that...although it looks less obvious on the original. I don't know so much about the Epi Embassy. But they look really cool. Nice for in a surf band or so.

By the way, the new Embassy basses, comparatively recently introduced and much lauded for their incredible value for (little) money, have disappeared from the Epi site together with the Allen Woody. Never a popular bass or strong seller, I was surprised they kept it in their catalog as long as they did, probably in memory of its late name giver. So Epi is back to offering just Gibson copies in their electric bass line.

Steve Marriott used to play those Epi guitars and a similar Epiphone-built Dwight. Some modern Brit bands use those guitars again, so I guess that's a reason for reissuing.

The Allen Woody was a Ltd Edition and I always wondered how limited it really was. Maybe they made most of them years ago. Would be interesting to look at the serial number of a recent purchased one.

The Wilshire was his guitar of choice.  That's what Peter Frampton told the guy at American Fretware when he bought one for a Steve Marriott tribute show a few years back.

The new Embassy was an Embassy in name only.  It was a far cry from the good old days.  The EBM(?) series was a better bass, IMO.

Did you mean to post this elsewhere? I don't see the connection.

I did have one, in black. Wish I hadn't sold it.
