New model from Gibson.
Based on drawings that Ted McCarty made in 1957

Comes with a hefty price tag of 5 grand. :o

I'll wait for the Mod Shop version with defects, shouldn't cost more than 10 grand.

Somebody talked some sense into Ted back then, since it wasn't issued. Too bad it has to see the light of day.

Basvarken

I actually like the shape of it.

But I would have called it The Tulip. 😉

Looks like the guitar Steve Vai should be holding on the cover of the album Flexable. This is just the first example from the archive collection. Wonder if we'll see any basses. Perhaps a wacky looking Thunderbird before Ray Dietrich settled on the design or a crossover bass design that was in between the EB and the EB2. One can only hope or dread depending on the possibilities.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

Rickenbacker reshaped the Combo 400/450 to a tulip shape a year prior to Ted McCarthy's design. He probably liked the aesthetics.

Yup, and I'm sure that's what it will be called most of the time.

It reminded me of the Rickenbacker Combo too. I kinda like it, but not for 5000 euro.

BTW: first I thought it was an April Fool's joke.

I guess it's called Theodore cos the McCarty name is trademarked by PRS?

I thought Teisco when I saw it.

Yup, that pickguard would be perfect for Teisco.
