I'm very biased, because she's a good friend of mine, but I'm a big fan of Madelief and her band Madlife. She plays most keys, some guitars, backing vocals and amazing bass lines. Live she plays one of her three fretless 5-strings while singing... On this album you also hear her fretted P and my Mustang.

I like this. Forceful, organic bass playing. Is she nose-wrinkle-free?
Is there a CD? Tell her to make one. I don't do spotify.
-
She has her old record on vinyl. This is digital only for the moment. I can send you a Soundcloud link?
-
Feel free to post one. I'm not a Spotify user either.

Chris, do you know what track(s) your Mustang is on?
-
For sure the Femme Fatale song.
It's my CIJ Competition Mustang Reissue with Labella flats for Mustang.
-
BTW I made the cover pic of the album. That and lending her my Mustang are my only contributions.
-
Good stuff on both counts.

Great review. But they could have at least mentioned that you let her use your Mustang or that you did the cover. :)

Haha, I just try to help her. We have some appoitments with important people soon!
-
It sounds very interesting.
-
That means he doesn't like it.
That is like my dad asking my mom at dinner: "Is that a new recipe?" and she would snap "Just say that you don't like it."

I was talking about appointments with important people sounding interesting. As for the music itself, I actually like it. I didn't know, of course, if I would or not. But it is good. I've only listened to one song, but I liked it. There is something about it which reminds me of Tame Impala who I also like. I want to listen to all the songs now.
-
I've listened to almost all of it now. A multi-instrumentalist with a pure voice. That's a rare combination, quite impressive. Her vocals were outstanding on everything. I say this as someone who might be considered a better singer than a bassist.
-
Uwe, yes, haha! Or thinks like 'interesting' or 'different.' A Dutch comic said something about babies. He thinks all babies are ugly, so he always says 'sweet baby', instead of 'beautiful baby'.
Mr. Westen44: thanks! I'll pass over the compliments and I understood your earlier comment! Uwe is just.... well... just... ehm being German.
-
I like children, but infants are overrated!
-
At least that's better than a former coworker of mine who said that babies should be clubbed like baby seals.
-
I just think all healthy babies look like Winston Churchill (minus the cigar.)

Hence his famous advice: "I have nothing to offer but sweat, tears und dirty diapers!" to young parents everywhere.
