Why is it embarrising, other than being pink?
No worse looking than all the other micro cars
I think the Smart Car is worse.

I'm sure that sort of venomous pink will find some (girl-)friends in the envisaged market. I just shudder to think how an intensive color like this one will look sun-bleached and worn in a few years from now.
No one in his (read: her) right mind buys a convertible not to be noticed. That little car does it pretty effectively. Who cares if it wobbles at high speeds with the top off? It's a car to take you from one shop in town to another at 30 mph with the wind playfully carressing the driveresses long hair ...

I test drove an Aztec before I bought my Vue. It wasn't too bad. The interior was actually pretty cool. My boss has one.
You want embarassing? My dad had a bare-bones Gremlin.

At least the Gremlin had a cool little cartoon character on it.
The AMC Pacer is up there as well, really any AMC car from the 70's to 80's.

Looks like somebody at Nissan had Pepto-Bismol on the brain (or small intestines).
Embarrassing? Let's not forget the Goggomobil Transporter. Or the AWS Shopper that used the mighty Glas/Goggomobil 300 engine.

Barkless... You'll find the Pacer on this list... I agree with you re the "Smart" (which my daughter christened the "Dumb" car and the name stuck with us) - they frighten the heck out of me when I see something that "fragile" overtaking me doing more than 80mph...! at that speed there would only be a tragic sudden stop with imo very little chance of survival...
Just one thing wrong - no BMW "Bubble" car...? :puke:

I think when they upped it to 20hp. That gave it blinding speed to go along with its good looks. ;D

You really have to wonder what the hell was going on in the design commitee room when GM said: OK! this is it, lets build the Aztek!...................Musta been some really good drugs.
You'd need a Thunderbird in that color too!

One of my neighbors had an Aztek. To me, the back view of it looked like a van body dropped on top of a car.

I too think the Aztec is one of the ugliest cars ever made that one singlehandedly could have brought Pontiac down, how about that box with wheels called a Scion? (I think). My wife just got her learner's permit and wanted a small car, She's using my 95 Buick Roadmaster, haha!

Here in the Detroit area, when the Aztec/Asstec was being built, a lot of GM execs got them as company cars. Several refused to drive them and just stuck them in the garage so no one could see them, but when they turned them in at the end of the year with 100 miles on them they took some flack for not supporting their products ;D
You could get some pretty good deals on a one year old low milage Asstec back then ;D

My wife had a meeting in Monterey a couple of years ago, so both daughters and I went along. We got a Buick Rendezvous (Aztek with a Buick nose) as a rental. It was butt-ugly, but it drove great, had super interior room and was a pleasure to cruise around in - as long as you were inside it. We tried not to look at it from the outside. My daughters still talk about how ugly it was but how nice it was to ride in.
