Very different from all other Fenders;)
-
:o :-X
-
Quite a few Fender artist models aren't much different from the originals. The point is to give fans a reason to buy what their inspiration plays (or played).
-
I'll admit it I ordered one 8)
-
I still would like to see an affordable (Mexican) Slab Body P like The Ox had.
-
Is it available with 5 strings, factory tuned?
-
If it was available lefty I'd get one. My main bass in my Punk days of the late 70s/early 80s was a white P-Bass.
-
Maybe next year they'll use a White pick guard with a Rosewood fretboard and call it the Brian Wilson sig :P
I don't think there's a natural Standard Precision in the current lineup. They should do one of those and call it the John Deacon sig or a roadworn version called the George Porter Jr. sig.
-
The (main, I had to cancel a post I started writing yesterday) problem with this is that Dee Dee would never have bought it himself - couldn't afford it.
-
wouldn't need to, Fender woulda given him one, or more.
-
Always nice to get a Signature Model.....after you're dead.
Less royalties to pay :)

Are you suggesting that corporations are motivated by profit? ;D
Seriously, though, they would have had to get permission from some representative of the band or Dee Dee's estate, so I'm guessing royalties will be paid.
-
There is "history" for what they call the top dead musicians, those that gross the most... I think it's presently Jackson in the No.1 slot... Elvis is certainly in the top ten... :-\
-
A really nice 70's style P for $900, that's always good news. If I was in the market for a new bass in that price bracket, I would definitely check out this bass.
-
I also like the Nate Mendel sig, although I'm not a fan of FF. I do like the Sonic Highways doc.

I was about to post the same. It's color scheme appeals to me.
-
The colour scheme is cool and so is the light worn finish. The Badass and '70s script are nice and the neck is not that wide.If I wanted a medium prices P it would be high on my list because of that.

I think you're missing the poing, mang.

When you're so Punk, that you can't even afford a shopping bag, never mind a proper case, to carry your bass to the gig on the subway in :P

+1 on the SH docs...

Ah well, you didn't specify "early-period Dee Dee", did you?
-
I so remember that picture! I think a Dee Dee Musicmaster in Daphne blue (or was it sonic blue?) would be awesome! Pretty sure the first album was done with the Musicmaster.
-
They say it's got a C neck. That should have a B neck.

C profile, B width.
-
It's signature because it comes with a very long strap and you can only play in "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight!"-time with it.
It's nice that The Ramones (or their descendants) are at least seeing now some money.
And I don't believe for a minute that Johnny couldn't afford a seedy gig bag for his Mosrite or whatever it was - I believe the paper bag was a statement of protest against other musos and legend building ahead of its time.
My son would never put his guitar in a gig bag or case either when he went to rehearsals (he had both, in good quality). His argument was "that we attract more attention with wearing the guitars open". So his poor (Custom Shop!) Les Paul was dragged through the London Tube while he lived there with the guys from his then band. And it shows to this day!

The vanity of yout'!
-
I believe Uwe uses one of the old Zeppelin hangers to store his cases...
-
The cases and the storage space they demand actually drive me nuts!
-
Slap on a rosewood neck and sell it as the "Sid" P-Bass...
