Yes, you might've seen me around talkbass amimbari, but I don't post around there much anymore and not under the same name. It's almost too huge a forum for me to enjoy.

I also play a lefty SX P-bass with flame top and maple neck. But I usually pick the bird over the SX, just because the Bird gives me everything I want.

Here is a much much more recent picture, just after jamming with my friends and having fun.

ya, sometimes I get lost in the sea of righthanders playing "insert your bass brand here" threads, but being the minority over there playing lefty,playing inverted, AND using Jackson guitars, I get to see the bias against me ( OH THE THRILL OF IT ALL ) 

Tbird1958 turned me on to this board, and since then, I have met some more friends, some great discussions, and some awesome bass porn to check out--AND another outlet to show off a few videos to those who generally don't see people flipping guitars too often..... just out of curiosity since your already a lefty, did you ever try playing inverted on someones righty bass?


anyway....., in order to provide you with a proper welcome, here's a jam that many hundreds of people heard while walking onto center stage for almost 30 years, and this jam is to welcome you to the LastBassOutpost center stage, and hope you stick around for a while and contribute your experiences playing a birdFlipped.  ( I don't have the sheetmusic for that jam, so I just followed the chord changes and winged it )

Oh and a buddy commented that the Bird on the pick guard looks like he is dive bombing towards some prey (or to poop), pretty cool, or funny I think.

  always thought it looked better with the headstock "beak" pointing down as a bird would normally look ( cant do that playing it non-flipped )

I've never been welcomed with the tonight show theme before, I feel honored  Thank you good sir. I am amazed at your ability to play with the strings strung righty.

To answer your question, yes, I've attempted to play righty, a righty upside-down as a lefty, and a pure lefty bass. I just felt better about playing lefty. I can play really simple lines on a righty upside-down, but nothing too complicated or with too much moving around.

Perhaps someday I'll post a video of my own playing, but alas, I am too shy with my abilities. 

But yeah, talkbass was great, but after reading over there for 3 years, I feel like I'm just reading the same things over and over again, and there is so many people, you don't ever get to know anyone personally. I already feel like part of a tight knit group here. I look forward to posting more.

I hope that on friday I'll get my nonrev bird look-a-like a.k.a. bachbird. That bird is going to be played upside down. Moest of my basses are righty's played upside down. Some looking really cool. But most of them are symeteric designs

i like to play right handed basses upside down too.it makes sense to me to have the e string on the bottom.

GLAD I could be the leader in the pack of inverted-wolves. And ya, like I have told people for years, dont watch, just listen. 

as far as double-thumb slap style, let someone else do it, I'll play ANYTHING ELSE (fast/slow/easy/complicated) is never a factor anymore that someone throws my way.
the slap technique is easy, but inverted the MUTING is a killer.

ok I got it now... like all my other posts show, I still like to use the inverted style G on top string orientation.

so I will rephrase my other post into saying "look at the leftys coming out of the woodwork who are using righthanded Tbird bodies flipped.

I only have ONE bass I play with the E on top right now that is a POS, and like you I LOVE to play both ways, just to mess with people's heads, but for me, I have played G on top for many, many years, so I play like that on stage and in the jamrooms.

I have a ton of charvel rightys but FINALLY, FINALLY found a lefty version, and hopefully it will arrive safe and sound in a few more days

And, for the absolute hell of it, and for no reason other than to make a fool of myself, I present to you, me playing on my Epi Thunderbird, converted for pure lefty usage. Enjoy (or don't).





One of my most favorite songs to play on bass, I find it so fun to play.

and I'm playing through a small Ibanez 20 watt practice amp, so it won't sound all that great compared to what I'm used to.

Good job.     I've never listened much to the Who except for their early stuff, and that's one of my favorites.
