Title: New Orange O-Bass
Post by: Dave W on January 24, 2016, 12:35:44 PM
"more growl than American Werewolf In London"  ;D

Does the world need another bass with a split-coil P pickup? Maybe, maybe not.  Does sound nice and growly, though, and no one will mistake it for a Fender.

Hey, it's 8mm more (that's 5/16" to you) towards the neck! ;-)

Sounds good though.

They bass was already introduced at last years Musikmesse, but in production soon! Adrian is cool and always answers technical mails quickly.

He said it was affordable. Does that mean it's made in China?

With a price round 380 Euro, I guess it is made in China (or Korea). Just like their amps.

Yeah, I remember Orange showing a couple of those last year but, I think, they were testing the waters to see if they got any real interest before jumping into the bass market.

Offering an inexpensive, no nonsense, introductory bass...that looks sort of cool....might could be a smart move for them.

Like the guys said..."to get kids back into playng rock n roll."

Kind of looks like they tossed a Les Paul and a PBass into an old Silvertone cement mixer.

I see it's available for order at GAK UK for £269.00. Sounds good, looks cool, priced right. If it's reasonably well made, I predict success.

I quite like these! I'm not sure about the pickguard echoing an upper cutaway that isn't there, but that is a small matter. Both the bass and those new amps sound pretty nice.

Yep, China, bolt-on. At this show the pickups were a bit more to the front, as already said, and the bound models were introduced. Nice little rock basses. Like the orange one. The orange Orange.

Matching headstock would be cool

I quite like the white headstock. Makes it more Orange-ish!

Not bad. The offspring of a drunken one-night-stand between a Gibson and a Reverend bass.  :)

Maybe in looks. Not in tone.
