Considering the recent Wilshire historycal collection reissue, maybe we can hope...

We Recently Acquired This Beautiful Rivoli

One of the most sought after vintage Epiphone basses is the 60s era Rivoli. We recently acquired this beautiful 1967 model and our R&D department is currently reviewing every detail of this iconic Epiphone piece for a possible re-issue. If it happens, I know a lot of bass players will be very happy!

It it's better built, historically accurate and finished in nitro, I'd jump on one.

One would think they would want an earlier 60s model if they want to do a reissue.

Then one would realize it's Gibson we're talking about. They'll probably have it endorsed by someone who never used one back in the day.

I think that is an ok one to copy.  Build quality on Epis was fine typically, and they really picked an ok period to copy.  My personal preference would be a 61-3 in natural with a bakelite covered pup (the Sounds Inc Bass), but truth be told I prefer the regular Klusons to the banjo pegs.  The only thing "wrong" with it really is the witch hat knobs, but it has the old bridge.  I would prefer a pickguard and could live without the mute and the hood ornament. Maybe it will be endorsed by Paul Samwell Smith or even Chas Chandler's ghost.

last reissues were ok to play just sound bad.  Knowing Henry J and his team  they will just put in the same crappy pup and charge a lot more for it....

I just realized Chas Chandler was playing an EB-2 in that video.  He's usually seen playing the Rivoli though.

Well you never know what they'll do - but I bet it ends up looking just like the 90s ones. Fingers crossed though.

If it had two pickups of similar character to the kalamazoo originals i'd certainly buy one.

Endorsers? They would be better off not bothering. Other than Paul Samwell Smith are any old Rivoli players still with us? And I don't think he is still performing, at least regularly.

Maybe Lee Sklar or Meshell Ndegeocello would want to endorse.  :)

I wasn't being serious. Just a comment on their habit of using artists who are not associated with Gibsons or who are well past the peak of their popularity.

Jack Lawrence. Is that a Rivoli or an EB-2? Jack always played a Fender Coronado I all those years with the Greenhornes. Maybe he's abandoned that.
