I think it will look even better with black pickguard and TRC.

Damn, they look like candy! The 4003 looks the best of all of them in that color!

Pretty! I'm not particularly interested in that color, but it does look nice.

Sorry to harsh your mellow! ;D
I remember the color, never appealed to me at all so I can't get excited by its return.

that's just like the one Cliff Burton played.

No, I'm pretty sure Burton had a Burgundy 4001. Ruby is a solid metallic red, Burgundy is an overall translucent wine red (hence, Burgundy - sometimes called Burgundyglo). If the one you are thinking of is the instrument that was on display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it is Burgundy.
-
Burgundyglo (so the story goes) was born from mixing Fireglo and Jetglo.
Ruby was Ric's version of Fender's Candy Apple Red custom color.

Ruby is hands down, my favorite color....I don't buy new ones so oh well but I have had 4, 1 with reg trim, one with 70's BT and 2 with 80's BT....loved them all...
