I’ve been reading Vickie & Jackie’s post on FB and learning more then I ever wanted to know about Kim Fowly, Fowly was one sick asshole going to their parents & making the case why they should let him manage that Band and look after their Kids and then have him & the roadies treat them like shit, just awful, one of the roadies taped Jackie’s hysterical blow up in Japan and after she was out of the band they would play it and laugh about it before rehearsals, that’s beyond cruel it’s evil,

Curious to see if it will allow a lower action than the stock bridge or even the hipshot.

Me too,

A little back ground, my friend got this Bass 11 years ago & it was intended to go to a Bass Player of a rather famous All Girl Band, sadly she seems to have stopped playing & left the Biz all together, being left handed & really a Guitar player he really didn’t use this Bass he has few other Southpaw Basses handy, he did use it as a template to build a proper left handed Non-reverse Firebird, lately he’s been thinning out his collection & knows how much I love Tbirds so he handed over to me, beside being just a generous all around great guy we’ve been close friends, I’ve known his family since the mid 60s all his brothers play guitar & are vintage gear nuts, if it weren’t for them I don’t think I’d even own a Guitar or Bass.

Some people find the rather large but my ’65 is very comfortable to play, I only wish they added third pickup set right in the sweet spot or moved the bridge pickup a bit closer to the middle, I’ve seen a couple from ’65 that had the bridge pickup about a half inch or so forward from the bridge, seems like a better idea then right next the bridge,

In the early days of the Dudepit, there was a guy who had bought Entwistle's other Alembic Exploiter -- it had a darker top than this one. He was also looking for a video that had Entwistle using that bass. I located a video that seemed to fit what he described, he bought the video and it turned out to be the one he was looking for. It's been a dozen years and I can't remember but it may have been an instructional video. Now I wonder if it was the Rockschool video.

Pretty sure I have Rock school around here somewhere that I Downloaded as VLC files, there were two series one with 8 & the other with 9 episodes, I also know I taped some from PBS when they were shown here in the USA, not the best quality but better then nothing,

Gibson Basses / Nice way to start the week, New Tbird

A friend of mine visited this week & gave me a sweet Sunburst ’66 Tbird IV, the HS has been repaired nicely with a bit of a volute on the back, the serial # is gone & the Vol pots date to 1965, compared to my ’68 the neck is different, the rosewood is a tad darker & it’s not as chucky when you get above the 8th-9th fret toward the body, the body is weather checked but the neck is nice & smooth & fast with very low action, the tone is very lively you only need a soft touch, especially with the front pickup solo, it’s lot of fun to play,

I wouldn’t mind a 3 point replacement bridge if it were thinner the then the one on my ’77 Tbird, are 70’s 3 point bridges & 80’s Epip & Gibson 3 pointers interchangeable? I’m having a hard time getting the action on my ’77 Tbird low enough, I really don’t want to mess with the saddles & I heard that the new saddles are smaller,

Yeah, but I also recall when Alice said something similar about Marilyn Manson, and now they are touring together.  Of course, I maintain that MM stole "Tourniquet" from Alice.  So there...

I think AC said, “He has a woman's name and wears makeup. How original.”

I could go & check my old Birds but I’m having too much fun reading all this, also I’m kind of afraid what I may find, once I wanted to see if the truss rod cover could be interchangeable, and both the ‘64s & the 77 screw holes were all different, and the ’68? Forgetaboutit!

is it possible that the engineers that developed the “Land Wasser Schlepper, came to the USA via Operation Paperclip & built this?
