I used to think this is the worst looking Ric standard finish, until I started to see it as Höfner Brunette on a Ric. But if I had one I'd doubtlessly have it clearcoated and buffed to a high gloss WAL.

They did make some pinstripe basses although this was never formally offered as an option.
