Just hears after a long illness.

The other Rob (Basvarken) already posted about in the "What have you been listening to?"-thread, unfortunately I lost his posting trying to move it here - sorry other Rob!

Sad. CSN(&Y) put harmony vocalizing on a new level and Crosby's vocal parts were often the most unusual ones. His life had its ups and downs, but he did pull himself back up.

You didn't lose it, you created a new thread with it. I merged it with the original topic, now it's back there.

With the pace all those elderly rockstars are leaving us, I think it's an idea to just introduce a central RIP thread.
Instead of all those separate threads.

Agreed?

It was Crosby’s harmonies that gave the Byrds that distinctive vocal mix.

Isn't a RIP thread a bit morbid? ***

Not a fan of mass graves either. Given that even individual RIP threads only have a short shelf life, I think we can live with an individual approach.

I dread the thought of having - one day when it is sadly time - Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore in one and the same commemorative thread!!! Or obituaries for Ted Nugent and Bob Dylan side by side ...  8)

*** That said, I'm actually a fan of cemeteries as places of sociological, historical and cultural remembrance. Whenever I am travelling and have the chance to visit one I don't yet know, I take the opportunity. The first names of both my children - Teresa and Leon - were inspired from gravestone inscriptions, cemeteries are great places to check out names that are not just the latest fad. (They both know where their names come from and think it's hilarious.)

I which case it is better to have just one, rather than an endless list of them.
This place will be full of them in no time, since the first generation of rockers is now in the age of 80...

I dread the thought of having - one day when it is sadly time - Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore in one and the same commemorative thread!!!
Which is inevitable, since you make sure every single thread ends with Blackmore anyway.

The music may be enjoyed. But as a person he was human garbage.
This guy skipped the organ transplant waiting list twice while the regular people suffered.

As we start to lose more and more of the musicians we grew up with, I think celebrating them and/or their music is fitting. I was never much a fan of the man, but Crosby's parts are always super fun to sing, so I can celebrate him that way.

You guys have given it a nice Tom Petty treatment, Herr Carlston!

Thank you, my friend! My bandmate playing the Dano 12 said he was aiming for McGuinn but kept hitting Petty (who seems to have been aiming for McGuinn as well; in the early days at least).

Whether Roger Petty or Tom McGuinn, it's all a bit circular, ain't it?! As long as the delivery is nasal enough ...

If this is to be a thread for the dead, then maybe rename it The Dead Thread...?
