An American in Europe, what can you say? He just didn't know any better. He exhausted all other available options (well, almost, he didn't bite into it!) and ultimately did the right thing. That is commendable.

Even I figured out what it was just by looking at it.  It's not as if we don't have troughs at public concert arenas over here.  The guy probably home schools his kids, too.   ???
