Amazon Questions and Answers
« on: August 06, 2014, 08:52:12 PM »
The number of idiotic product reviews on Amazon is bad enough. But now that Amazon allows questions and answers on products, I really have to shake my head in amazement. Do people just refuse to read? I was looking at a portable external hard drive today, 11 of the 19 questions are asking something that's directly answered in the product description.

But what really gets me is the people who answer a question with "I don't know." WTF? Why would anyone even bother to do that? If nobody answers a question, that means nobody who's seen it so far knows the answer. Isn't that obvious? How stupid do you have to be to type "I don't know" ?

I swear, it's almost as bad as reading YT comments.

"I don't know" is one of the options Amazon's Q/A engine offers the person who responds to questions.

As it happens, earlier tonight someone sent me a question about a hard drive I bought - but it was about using the hard drive in a RAID array, something about which i have no idea (and about which they should contact the maker).

I clicked the "I don't know" field in response to the question.

That's understandable because someone directly asked you a question. I'm talking about the box at the bottom of every question where anyone can respond.

Exactly! When one doesn't know the answer, common courtesy dictates - at the very least - an answer that contains a cursory reference to WWII aircraft or Deep Purple.

Nothing could ever be worse than YT comments.  I've had to be on Amazon a lot and think I know it well.  YT stupidity is off the scale.
