I just looked at the sites "Artists to watch in 2010" link...

No need for me to look again... each to their own...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Dissenting opinion:

Eminem certainly has his place in the history of rap and he was the only white artist that ever had an influence on the black rap community and got their respect. I'm fine with him being commemorated in whatever fashion, he was never a manufactured product. 8 Mile (the song) is a classic.

And I don't even enjoy rap except in very small doses.

IMHO whoever convinced anyone that hip-hop is one of the arts deserves a con artist of the decade award.

Dislike of hip-hop and its thug culture spans the generations. The devil has better taste than to like it. Give him some credit.

I watched SNL last night and unfortunately didn't mute Jay-Z when he came on. Just a guy chanting rapid-fire in an almost monotone voice and you could not understand a word he was saying. And he's a "star."   But he knows how to strike a pose.

Not all Rap is garbage but I think the case here is that they're trying to bolster a flagging career or in Valley Girl parlence "Ewww Eminen he's so '90s"

mainstream music is not for us anymore. we are way too old for that demographic. time marches on as do musical tastes. eminem's award does not bother me because it means nothing to me. i have a collection of MY music as most of you do and that is all that should matter.

I never saw Eminem as a thug, some of his lyrics were anti-thug, if anything.

I left most mainstream music about 40 years ago, and hip hop has had its own demographic for 25 years now. It's not a generational thing with me at all, and as I've said many times before, it doesn't bother me that other people like things I don't.

Still, that doesn't change my opinion. Thug music for a thug culture.

I listen to enough of it to keep current Like I said not everything is bad the unfortunate thing about a lot of todays so called music is the fluff factor a little talent a good look and enough electronic effects and the best band money can buy to make anyone sound great. In my opinion the difference is that the music we grew up with you knew that the musicians were real guitars amps drums keys pa today you can pretty much drag anybody off the street with the "Look" and make them a star.
