Title: Macca's bass collection.
Post by: Blazer on March 25, 2008, 10:58:23 AM
I guess we all know Paul McCartney for playing his Höfner 500/1 and Rickenbacker 4001S basses, but he also owns a lot of other basses. But because there isn't a lot of information of what basses he ownd, let's put together a picture collage of Macca with basses other than his Hofner and Rickenbacker.

I'll start off with the Yamaha BB series bass he played during the later years of the Wings.

I don't have the one with the Fender, but I'm sure someone will dig it up.  I'm pretty sure that Hamer gave him the first of the violin basses they made - it was Kip Winger's model, too.

Interesting topic. I hope more pics will follow soon.

Of course the Beatles used a Jazz Bass and there are pics of George Harrison with a Burns bass. Don't know if Macca used that though.

Fun topic, considering I've played bass in a (award-winning)Beatles tribute band for the past 16 years.
For what its worth, here's MY gear:

That's cool, I never noticed when I was checking out the pics.
I know a couple of people who play them upside down. I'm a lefty who plays right handed.
It always looks like it would be harder to me except when bending notes.

Me too.  Not sure how it came about that way - think I was just mimicing most of the guitarists/bassists that I saw on TV, and it just stuck.

Nice collection, leftybass.  I like that CS!

Thanks! Only 3 or 4 lefty CSs were made.
