Vale Dexter
« on: July 03, 2011, 12:15:15 AM »
Sadly I have to say that LBO member Dexter (James Skeds) died a while back. He was a stalwart of the Adelaide music scene playing with most of the more highly regarded musicians in this town. He was heavily involved with the blues scene here but was also sought after by jazz and rock players alike. He loved Deep Purple and was a mad keen on Andy Frasers playing. I only knew him via mutual friends which is not uncommon with both of us being bass players and playing at similar times. He joined this forum near its beginning and while he didnt post much he did  enjoy the site a lot. We spoke mainly through PM's here. He was a very talented, versatile and widely respected bassist.
I wasn't aware that he had died until today but friends tell me it was in Oct 09. His last chats with me were in Aug 09.

RIP James

RIP - sorry for your loss - It always surprises me how easily we lose touch with people...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Sorry to hear this, Bret.

RIP, James.

Last active here September 20, 2009.

Here's the 61 EB-3 that he was so proud of.

You know those people you just take for granted that you bump into from time to time and simply enjoy talking with due to a common interest? Then dont think too much about until the next time you see or hear from them? That was how it was.

Here is a short page detailing James background. He died after a fight with cancer I've just been informed.  :-\

"He loved Deep Purple ...".

Undoubtedly in heaven then.  :) May the eternal mudbuckin' frequencies engulf him forever.

That was his second and favorite. I have a pic of his first one somewhere, he offered it to me at a very reasonable price but I had my cash focused elsewhere at the time. I'll try and dig the pic  out.
