Fees to cash check
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:46:43 AM »
Had a new one on me today.  Was downtown and needed cash...my bank is a suburban Savings & Loan (half hour away). I go into a Fifth Third Bank to cash a gig check drawn on Fifth Third Bank.  They charged me eight dollars to cash a check written on one of their checking accounts.

The last time I do anything at Fifth Third.

Make sure to write a letter to the bank president letting him know that.

Mostly are over here anyway - you can't buy fuel with one and cheque/check guarantee cards are pretty much a thing of the past...

Something has to be wrong with a bank with a name like Fifth Third.  Must be part of the Huzon First Group.

Two words: CREDIT UNION

About twenty two years ago, when my wife and I were still in our mid twenties, we got jacked around by Big Mambo Megabank of Texas.  The asshats refused to deposit our income tax refund because my asked for $20 back on the depsoit ticket and I was not "present" to sign the refund check - as I have signed it in adavance!  >:(  Please, I opened that account when I was nine and when we got married we just kept using it.  When I complained to one of the "officers" he told me that I should just bank elswhere.  Fine, so I took my $400.00 out and moved to the new Credit Union down the street.  Free checking, no fees, interest rates for loans are phenominal and the interest they pay is just a fraction better than everyone else.  Not that I'm wealthy but at this stage of my life my deposits now are fairly sizable.  I'll never do business with a bank again.
