Anyone know where these pickups come from?
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:44:04 PM »
I have researched some and found that the Les Paul Special II bass uses something called a 442R pickup.  I have been looking on the net and can't find anywhere or anyone who supplies replacement pickups for the neck and bridge.

I did find the 40HZ pickup from EMG which looks similar to but is shorter than the 442R.  The site did not list the width so I am not sure if it is the same 1 inch width as the 442R.

But I just can't find the 442R offered by anyone.  Anyone have any ideas where to look?

The 442R name is most likely something that only Epiphone uses. Those pickups are probably made exclusively for Epiphone by some random asian
pickup manufacturer like Artec or similar. If you really need the stock pickups you could try to get in touch with Epiphone
and ask if you could, and if so, how to obtain them. Epiphone has been more gratious towards selling bass parts compared to Gibson.
Good luck!
