Today I got a question if I'd ever consider building a double neck.
Well, it did cross my mind. But I never really sat down and thought it through.
Until today 😉
How about a Brooks DoubleBird?

Very Nice!! The design does look cleaner with the bass on top. My reasoning for putting it on the bottom is mostly playing position.

Very cool. Too bad the bass is on top. Price is a bit much.

That’s what I was thinking. I wish that they would put the bass on the bottom like many other builders………..

Nice!!

I looked back at an older photo that I took before the second refin to see if some of the shoulder might have been sanded off.
It must be more pronounced in the first year than it is in the last.

Its not about playing and I have lots of basses, most that I have built or recycled myself to fulfil every need I have.

I want some of  my savings to be a Gibson hanging on my wall rather than Krugerands in a vault.

is there anything old and fun and Gibson that will hold its value?

explorer? RD?

please dont make me go to a guitar forum..

The RD’s have seen a bump in value. I remember reading an article back in the day; “RD Artist, Ahead of their time or timeless turkeys”, They are heavier than a Thunderbird but unique in their own way. You should easily be able to find one in your price range. Kind of a “Melted Down” Thunderbird.

It would be interesting to see what they pay for a vintage guitar they plan to sell. Their legacy depends on the value of their instruments increasing in value. Therefore, would they pay more than most dealers?

Looks awesome! Really unique!

It even has two repaired screw lugs……….

In early 1974, I drove to a little local music store to test drive a 4001. The manager (& only employee) pulled his personal 1967 EB-2 out from behind the counter & offered it to me for about $230. I bought it & to this day I don’t think I ever tried the Ric. First Gibson bass of the heard………

Gibson Basses / Re: Gibson Bass pick up deal?

Looks like a 20/20 pickup cover. It likely isn’t for a 20/20 because it doesn’t have the visible circuit board on the back.
It also has three screws like the 20/20 pickup. Looks like a bridge pickup according to screw location.

I’ve always avoided EB-0’s with those tuners. Never had a bass with them so not sure why I avoid them other than they look cheap………
