Same pickups as the 2015 Thunderbird, they sound really good - despite the black plastic!  :-*

They were also used in the EB-5 & EB-4 basses made around 2014 & after. The 2019 Les Paul Jr DC bass had one flipped backwards with the pole pieces facing the guitar. We called them Jim DeCola pickups at the time……..

I’m kinda drawn to it!! Now it is a design that makes sense, only took 40 years!

A true headless four string would be cool also………….

The Corvus was a guitar shape that was available to pick for the video game “Guitar Hero”. For as popular as the game was & the millions of people that were introduced to this guitar from the game, I’m surprised it is still relatively unknown………

The Hobbit didn’t have appointments like the Les Paul Custom. It was exactly like the Les Paul Recording. In most cases, basses had unbound fretboards & dot necks for an example when their guitar counterpart was much fancier……

Even when they were still in production, there was no blinged out model comparable to a LP Custom, I'm not even getting started on Artisan or Supreme. Just like there was no Thunderbird equivalent to the Firebird VII, or an EB3 Custom. It's always the underblinged versions for us.

Only the Hobbit & the ES Les Paul Bass had appointments equal to its guitar counterparts. Neither were as high end as a Les Paul Custom. The Hobbit came the closest……..

Looks like the knee rest might be missing. Nothing you can really do to mess up the electronics, the circuit is in the pickups.

It’s been a long time since one has come up for sale……..

I've had a 1985 Gibson Futura in my "Land of Misfit Toys" for aprox 25 years. It was supposedly designed to be a headless guitar but marketing didn't like it so they added a headstock, creating a confusing model that didn't sell.

Recently, Gibson sold a headless prototype for BIG Money & it sold quickly......... Who would have thought? Trogly, Dave's favorite blogger even did a video on it.........

I’ve been tossing around building or having built a guitar/bass double neck for years. Bass on the bottom with either one or two Hobbit pickups. Guitar on top. I have both vintage & one Jim DeCola Les Paul Recording pickup that could be used for the guitar, or two NOS Maurader bridge pickups that I made pickup surrounds similar to the low impedance pickups. I was thinking os using a Boss LS-2 to switch from bass amp to guitar amp. An interesting project that I may never get to………
