LOL, I was just talking to someone about Metallica, too.  Just sent her this.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

Thanks for explaining it. I hadn't a clue.

Enter the baggage check, Sandman! But isn't it nice to see that a zilliardaire like Hetfield travels like the rest of us and is not ushered via shortcuts through the airport? I don't see no bodyguards either, not sure if we could have a similar pic from Axl Rose.

There you have it, Metallica are a band of the people! (In fact, considering their mega-status, they do have retained a firm footing in real life and it probably adds to their popularity.)

Het's personal assistant used to be their fanclub president here in Knoxville, and about 20 odd years ago, Het hired him out of the blue to go live in San Francisco and work for Metallica full-time, maintaining their website and things like that. It's a far cry from Lars' endless parade of ex-wives, hookers and porn stars that he pays for.

I guess purple and black socks will be the new trend for metal heads all over the world.

Like them or not, they have outlasted any other US hard rock or heavy metal act in terms of popularity and influence. They're in their fourth decade now. I first saw them following Master of Puppets and Cliff Burton's death in the mid-eighties on Jason Newsted's first festival tour in 1987 - little did I know back then that they would still be a force today. Look where Ratt is today who played a higher position on that festival (Monsters of Rock) back then.

Agreed.  I would never have expected them to be radio friendly and mainstream, but they got there.

I wouldn't read too much into that unless she has "And Justice for All" on 24/7 heavy rotation in your sacred home!  :-X
