Rare EB0 pup
« on: February 25, 2010, 11:21:57 PM »
This seller has mixed up the lead and neck pups, but this is fairly unusual.  Gibson at its finest, potting and all.

Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

That's how rare and unusual it is.  It looks like a DiMarzio.  But ...it's a Gibson!

It even comes with the ring.  And all.  Gibson.

If DiMarzio now bought Gibson it would all make sense again.

What makes no sense whatsoever is that I actually bought one, junked a Peter Cook pup, gouged my T'birds body, and fitted one...

Unbelievable...

I never even tried to sell it when I junked it, once I grew up...

I don't think it is a Dimarzio. I've never seen a Dimarzio with a braided shield, and the way the lead enters the pickup doesn't look right. It looks like a knock-off to me.

I could be wrong though.

They're not that crazy!

They came with braided shields in the early 80s, at least. Don't ask me how I know that.

I had no idea one way or another about the braided wire, I just figured it must be a Model One for no other reason than I've never seen a knockoff with a black cover and two rows of polepieces.

What do I know? The ones I bought in '78 had black wrapped leads as do the other 2 pair I have. Does that mean the one I have with the gray wrapped 3 wire lead is a real Dimarzio too?

I can hold my head high and proudly say I've never bought a Model One.  ;D

Seriously, they're not bad at all, heard one in a homemade maple bodied bass and it sounded very nice. It's just a long way from a mudbucker.

All the ones I've owned always had the black plastic wrapping round the wires.  Even that ancient SD Curlee I had was like that.
