I want one! (http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/video/10414154-polaris-debuts-new-slingshot-motorcycle/)
-
The reporters don't have any idea what they're talkiing about. "Unlike anything you've ever seen?"
Balderdash!! (Harrumph, Harrumph...)
There are three-wheelers all over the place, and yesterday I stood next to a Messerschmidt...

Yes, this may be a fast and more stylish take on the three-wheeler, but it's hardly a new idea. I'll also bet that it oversteers vigorously when pressed hard enough, due to the single tire in back.
Howsomever, it does look like fun.
-
... and we Brits had the wonderful Robin Reliant, and wasn't it a three-wheeler that set BMW on the road, so to speak... the wonderful "bubble-car"...?
-
Come on, guys, they didn't say or imply that it's the world's first three-wheeler. And if you're going to do a comparison, three-wheeled microcars like the Messerschmidt or Reliant Robin are about as far from the Slingshot as you could get. Now a real comparison would be with the Morgan 3 Wheeler, which IIRC is also technically a motorcycle. The Morgan is a lot more expensive though.

Yes, and it's tres' cool as well.
Not that the Polaris isn't - it looks like a lot of fun!

Really Dave? That's almost as bad as a can am roadster but even worse because it looks like a cross between a rice burner and a Transformer toy. Wouldn't you rather ride one of these?

Yes, really. Whatever that is in your pic, I'd take the Slingshot or the Morgan any day. No doubt about it.
FWIW, the Slingshot will have the 173hp GM Ecotec 2.4L 4 and will weigh about 1725 lb. The Morgan has a 2L S7S V-Twin with something like 125hp but is much lighter, about 1200 lb. Should be interesting to compare performance stats.
-
Meh....stick to four wheels.

Ha! Man, I remember those crazy fiberglass trikes from hot rod magazines I used to indulge in as a kid in the seventies. The girls were a little more natural looking back then though. :-*

I dunno there Dave - I'd choose the redhead without hesitation.
-
the redhead looks computer generated.
-
Fair enough, I just have a weakness for gingers.
-
Biscuits...? dunked...?
-
I've never heard of that body part referred to that way before :P
-
I am left wondering how long the term "gingers" has been commonly used in referring to redheads. Must have been some time in the last decade or two...
-
a lot longer than that. i looked on line and found "ginger"examples from the 1700's. a brit thing.
-
Redheads in Dublin were the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Adam Smith said that Irish prostitutes in London were perhaps the most beautiful women in the British dominions.

1700s? Wow, I didn't realize Ginger Baker was that old!
Anyway, for those of you who haven't heard it, here's Craig Ferguson's sea shanty.

The "Beware of Mr. Baker" documentary presented a picture of someone even more bitter and stubborn than I was expecting, which especially became clear after watching it the second time.
-
I like the Aussie term for redheads. Ranger, as in Orangutan. As for trikes, Alice cooper rides them so if he likes them they must be cool. Alice Cooper is still cool right?

Well okay. . . but were they red headed? :rimshot:

They were beautiful women, a number with red hair which is, of course, common there. Most were out of my league. I did the best with a pretty French woman with a new job in Dublin eager to make friends. Next stop: France.

I've only heard it since facebook came around. Seems really overused now.
