Is this back cover magnetic? Or its something like brass?

It's not magnetic.  Not sure what metal it is.

I'm a little jealous that the epiphone firebird guitars will have options for Frost blue and Heather. Any chance Gibson will follow suit with custom color Thunderbirds too?

Gibson's site shows the Thunderbird as discontinued.  Or do you mean the Epiphones?

The bottom doesn't come off and I don't want to force it and break it.  And I can't see anything through the other hole that's not either of the mounting holes.

So it went from Vintage Pro to '60s Thunderbird to '64 Thunderbird?

The pointy beast, 4005XC, was shortscale and not based on a historic instrument. Oddly, Shaftesbury had a bass like the 4005XC in the late '60s, so it's a copy of a copy.

Ah, thanks!

I'll see if I can remove them when I get home.  Curious what's in there.

What's the difference between these with the rounded horns and the ones with the horns that come to a point?

I started a new thread, but probably should've posted this here.  A friend sent me his old 1991 TB+ and the bottoms are flat.  Where's the magnet in these?

I now have here a set of '91, 2001, and 2013 TB+.  As soon as I get my RNR back from getting some neck work done, I'll try them out and see how different they sound.

Super interesting that the '91s have no magnet bump on the bottom.  Anyone know how these are constructed?

I grew up listening to Ace, so his tone and style are like home for me.

Bob also recorded with Kiss later on, I guess when Ace was on his way out.

PS: I thought the same thing about Ace and Ariel. Being the Anglophiles they were, I’m sure Ace’s inspiration for his “stutter guitar playing” helped him win the audition with Paul and Gene. They had actually already settled for Bob Kulick when Ace stumbled in as the last guy they auditioned.

Interesting point.  I wonder how different their music and success would've been with Bob instead of Ace from the beginning.  I know Bob played with them later on.
