Thanks!  Well, it's a beauty for sure.  I like the headstock.  I don't like it enough to say I'd want to own it.  One of Carlo's or mine would be more to my tastes.

Also, what's the point of the fan frets?  That really means adjusting your playing routine and I'm happy with linear fret alignment!   :P

That's a beauty Bill!  Where did you find it?

Where else?  eBay.  Been watching them for a couple years.  They often are beat up or the finish has turned to some horrible color of green.  This is a really nice example of the bass they made.  Too bad they didn't catch on.  Oh well, it makes them rare anyway!

I've seen the Veritas before too. It does look much more substantial than the Daisy, which looks like it might be okay for very light work only. Too bad you can't buy the regular guide pins separately.

Yeah, the guide pins and the receiver they fit into are first class.  The receiver is also retractable, so you can raise the pin and remove the work piece easier.  The problem with the arm is the attachment screws which go into a clamp on the end of the arm.

After centering the arm over the router's center, you then have to tighten the arm mounting screws into the clamp mechanism.  Every time you tighten the screws, the arm/clamp move ever so slightly and screws up the alignment by a few hundredths of an inch.  It is maddening!  I think the best way is to leave the clamp off and put screw directly through the arm holes into the table.  I'm going to try that sometime just to see if it works.

Right now, I'm really happy with my homemade set up and it's easy to remove and set back up!

Yeah,  my old B-15 sounded great until you turned it up!  I was really able to fill a large hall when I went SVT with two 15" speakers and the tone was pretty good.  I never thought the old Bassmans and the like handled larger venues well.

Looking forward to it!

It will be my first one where I rout out the chambers rather than cut them on my band saw.  Should be interesting.

Refresh my memory, which one was your old pin router arm? The Daisy?

I tried the Daisy too.  Very inaccurate, too much play in the pin mechanism to render a piece correctly.  Waste of $40.

LOVED that sparkly tuck n' roll cover!!!

Yeah, they were pretty cool looking and original.  I'd love to hear one to see how it sounds.  Never saw one up close as a kid.

When I was a teenager, I had a tendency to focus on amps a lot.  Because I got such a great deal on a used one, I ended up with a Fender Bassman.  But what I really wanted was a Kustom amp.  This was my first case of major GAS.  It used to cause me to stay awake thinking about it.  It's no surprise that in 2016 I'm interested in a topic like this, but this time we're, of course, talking about Kustom basses.   Maybe I still automatically associate Kustom with GAS than would be the case with most people, though, because of my teenage experiences.

Your gas is understandable!  In fact, there have been some beautiful Kustom amps on eBay recently and some of the prices looked pretty reasonable to me.

Yes please drop us the brand.

It is the Veritas router arm.  You can buy it separately and attach it to your router table or buy their steel table to go along with it.

Yes, it's wood.  The finish is a dark trans-red. The wood is has some nice figuring in it too.  It's clearly maple.

Very slick bit, I have to give one of those a try!

Yep, I'm impressed with it thus far.

Did some more research and it looks like they only made guitars and basses for two or three years from 67 to 69 or so.  Someone on Reverb said they had heard that they only made 2000-3000 instruments during that time.  Makes it pretty rare and even better that it sounds good too!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and prayers.  We are going to do chemo locally a couple more times and explore some other options at Johns Hopkins.  Our visit down there went well.  Basically, my cancer isn't curable, so we're working on fighting it as long as there are regimens to do so.  Just a reminder that life is short, but it is still sweet under any circumstances!
