Gibson Basses / Les Paul Standard bass for sale
« on: May 13, 2009, 09:15:14 PM »
Well, as much as I hate to do this I'm going to test the waters. I've been hit with a few shots financially this month (and still have more coming I think) and I am posting my LP Standard bass up for sale. It won't break my heart if it doesn't sell, but I need to at least try. It's a very nice bass in very good condition. The details are:

1995 Gibson LP Standard bass
Honeyburst finish with creme (tan?) binding
Chrome hardware/Warwick bridge
2 TB plus pickups (chrome)
Bart preamp plus active/passive bypass
black hardcase (not sure if it's a gibson case but fits like a glove)
weighs 10.8 lbs on my digital scale

The bass is in great condition and looks like it's gone unplayed for most of its life. The only real flaw to me is that the fret ends have poked out at the sides and you can feel the slight rise around the edges.  Doesn't affect playability at all. It's a great bass to play and it can get VERY aggressive with the preamp. I just had a push/pull volume pot installed (by our own Chromium) so that it can be played passive as well. It sounds great either way. (I had considered removing the preamp but thought I'd try the push/pull first) If you want more info/details feel free to ask. I've asked Joe (Chromium) to add his thoughts on the bass as he has played it several times since I bought it.

I'm looking for $1100 shipped in the lower 48. Feel free to make offers but please don't be offended if I decline. Thanks for looking.

Andy

Not sure about how to post the pictures on here. Help?

Marshall 4 x 15 cab. Seems like this would have too much low end.

Gibson Basses / Before installing the Hipshot bridge
« on: March 12, 2009, 10:17:06 AM »
I received my Hipshot replacement bridge for my T-bird yesterday. It came with a note saying that you should remove the threaded body inserts and glue them in to make sure that the bridge doesn't lift out of the body from string tension. My question is, how do you safely remove the inserts without damaging the wood or finish? Is this easy enough to do on your own or should I take it to someone that knows what they are doing? Also. I assume that crazy glue is good enough to use or do you recommend something else?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Gibson Basses / Lp Double cut body tracing
« on: December 31, 2008, 02:51:56 PM »
Would it be possible to get a tracing of an LP double cutaway body from someone? Not the newer version, but the LP jr style (like a Hamer). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Andy

Gibson Basses / NOS Epi Allen Woody for $200 at local store
« on: November 18, 2008, 09:44:24 PM »
The store where my daughter takes lessons is clearing out their NOS Allen Woody sig model for $200 if anyone is interested. I saw it tonite and he claims that the only thing wrong with it is that it's been there for a year and it must go. If you're interested give McKnight guitars a call @ 480-782-9600. I don't think they open before 10 am AZ time and they don't always make it to the phone before it stops ringing. So if you want it, try early & often. I've bought from them before (my LP Standard bass) & would do so again if they have what I'm after.

i have no connection to the sale of the bass, just trying to pass along a good deal to other Gibson fans.

Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / T-Bird body thickness
« on: September 09, 2008, 12:58:39 PM »
How thick do you make your T-bird bodies? I think 1&3/4" is too damn thick, but would 1&1/2" be too thin? It would be for a bolt on neck, not a set neck if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Andy

Can someone please tell me distance from the edge of the upper bout on the NR body to the side of the neck? I have a tracing of the Epi NR body, but had to do a little altering to work with the neck I want to use on it and just want to make sure I get the neck in the right spot. Thanks!
