Gibson Basses / Re: NBD '65 EB-0 Pelham Blue

Got back my EB-3 and absolutely adore the GHS brite flats on it. The baby blue silks at the headstock look nice. The tension feels tight but that's a good thing for a short scale IMO. Added an Allen wrench under the neck pickup cover on the E string side and have to say that to my ears it definitely helped make the E string louder. It's also possible the strings may be helping with the balanced output as well. I have no hesitation giving GHS Brite Flats a ringing endorsement with bells on, especially for short scale Gibsons.

What a beauty Houdini! I bet that's a sweet sounding EB0 from 65. Looks like you got one of the first ones with a chrome bridge instead of nickel. You never know what those mudbuckers are going to give you from bass to bass. The one in my EB1 is a hot fuzzy bassy monster but my 66' EB3 has a much more sweet and balanced tone. My EB3 is getting a setup with GHS brite flats. I'll post my thoughts on those when I get the bass back. Congrats man. There's a thread in the Gibson section with a bunch of vids of EB basses from the sixties. Check it out for some inspiration. Enjoy the bass!

Maineiacs. This is what happens when you live in a place where bears outnumber people.

Those are some stout looking football legs Blackmore's got there. I'm guessing he's not that tall. Probably can hit the ball with good force, not that it helped the typically large legged Iranians any. The Turks are another group with stalky legs yet they didn't make it to the world cup at all this year. Still hard to believe Spain, Portugal, Italy and England all didn't make the cut. My condolences to any bass players hailing from those lands on this forum.

It's all good. We get in with the Portugal win against Ghana. All those forwards and Germany can only score one measly goal? Could have been a different story if the ball ever found Dempsey's foot and if Altidore had played.

Not a bad team on the field for the USA. Nervous yet Uwe?

Cool Pen collection! Don't stop there. Get some quill pens, parchment paper and start working on your calligraphy. Really get in to being a renaissance man and get a harpsichord while you're at it too why not?

Lee Sklar had a Precision with an added split coil pickup in the bridge position and he used it on lots of tracks with J.T.

Yes, that's the one Dave. I just selected the embedding option on the vid and cut and pasted the link it gave me. Not sure why it showed up the way it did. I didn't know where the singer, Jason, came up with the song until I looked it up yesterday. It's a Zakk Wylde song.

Here's some video of me jamming on the old girl. Nice cutting tone with the La Bella flats and a heavy celluloid Fender pick.

Surely you're being facetious Dave. Most people's qualms would be with the associated mélange of organ meats. If you actually don't like oatmeal, please be sure to eat some other types of whole grains. They're wicked important for your health.

Haggis is a delectable dish. I'm disappointed it's not on their menu. Any kind of meat pie would have been nice as well, especially kidney pie, but alas it is nowhere to be found on the menu either. The elephant and castle had kidney pie on the menu in Toronta when I was there yet the same establishment in Boston didn't have it. The Brittish Beer co chain here does have some decent pies and pasties with at least one true cask ale on tap unlike the Tilted Kilt.
