Bought a doubleneck!
« on: October 09, 2009, 11:46:14 AM »
I could swear I posted this while home sick yesterday. Maybe I previewed and forgot to post? (Wouldn't be the first time)

Anyway, with my recent acquisition of a vintage Moog Taurus pedal synthesizer, it just didn't seem right that I had no doubleneck to go with it.  ;) Picked this baby up for a total of $902 with shipping. The previous owner ditched the EMG "Select" pups in favor of real EMGs and added a bass/treble circuit for the bass, and a mid boost for the guitar. There are two extra knobs on the lower horn. Nice arrangement, though I would have gone with Gibson TB+ for the bass, and some Duncans for the guitar. Whatever. I bought it mostly for writing and doubt I'll ever use it live. Until I start my prog rock tribute band.  ;D

Freak!

That's sweet!  I'd secretly love a Steiney XL2 - always wanted one (with the trans-trem even).  I'd probably never take it out, but I'd use it here... love the way they sound on recordings.  Still have Jamaaladeen Tacuma's Renaissance Man and Jukebox in the regular CD rotation.

Let's see that Taurus rig too!   8)

Wow - how heavy is that thing? I would think it wouldn't be too bad.

I've got the Taurus 3 on order - I was one of the early ones, since I've been wanting bass pedals for so many years. We should do a double-Taurus/double-double-neck jam some time!

About 13 pounds. Kinda heavy, but NO neck dive whatsoever.

That jam would be EPIC! I really need to start recording some stuff.

So you must have gotten the lower price on the T3? Believe it or not, somebody GAVE me the Taurus I! They need work, but they are physically excellent, came with a Anvil flight case, and the original manual. I don't think I'll be using them live, but they're nice to have. I have a set of Roland PK-5 pedals running through a Juno-G. Great rig. Keeps my band from having to run tracks live.

A friend of my old singer, and an outstanding guitarist, was endorsed by Steinberger.  His little headless guitar sounded awesome.  Nice score!

I can really admire that double-neck - and simultaneously be glad that I don't have to carry it around!

Takeshi brought these back I tell you! I'd love an SG/EB-3 doubleneck, even if it was a cheapie.

Boris!

I wonder if Greco or one of the other Japanese companies ever made a Gibson bass/guitar doubleneck...

There's been an Aria popping up on ebay for a while now. I believe $800 was the opening bid with no bites.

I brought my Steinie to work today!  ;D

I believe Takeshi's model is an Ibanez from the lawsuit era, but it might be a Greco. He doesn't take it out anymore because it's really heavy, but he says he still plays it in the studio.

Two regrets: I once saw a  black headless doubleneck, like the one above and I didn't have thhe money. Some years before that I saw a bolt-on SG/EB3 copy doubleneck and again no money. Both 495 euros...
