I only read through his analyis of Richie Blackmore - I was looking for info on his distinctive picks and found a very naunced, detailed review of Richie Blackmore's playing (http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/13). Made me want to listen to some Deep Purple! For a long time I LOVED guitar solos - Richie, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Jerry Garcia, just to name a few. Lately not as much - my tastes have changed I guess. But it is still a huge part of what I love about music.
Also, anyone know anything about his picks? I used to use them (probably Japanese-made) growing up in Japan, haven't thought about them in a long time.

Here's his appreciation of Black Sabbath's Born Again: http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/213 (http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/213)
I'm not sure if it's because he's writing about music I like or because he's a pretty good writer and a good listener with enough knowledge to know what he's talking about, but I'm enjoying these reviews! It's not easy to find the stuff on the website but I think it's worth the effort - gonna read the Glenn Hughes interview next...

Bummer that you couldn't join - I basically just read some of the articles - got me to go back and listen to some Scorpions (In Trance, Virgin Killer & Tokyo Tapes - the Uli Jon Roth years) and some Judas Priest (Rocka Rolla & Hell Bent for Leather/Killing Machine). The guy does seem to have a good understanding, both technical & aesthetic as well as historical.
