I regret not buying the EB-1 that you traded in to Willie's for your current EB-1.

The EB-3 was bought at Willie's also. The 1st EB-1 was bought there also for less than $500.00. Gibson basses were cheap in those days.

Even when you traded in that EB-1 it was only about $1200 or $1300. Anybody here with a time machine?

I hate to whine, but I feel your pain Dave.  I sold my 63 CAR jazz bass and SVT rig with 2-15" speackers in 1975 for a couple hundred dollars.  Ugh, I hate to think about it now............ :-[

I traded the origonal EB-1 & $325.00 for the second one. She was asking $1,300.00. I had an end pin I bought at a guitar show with the one I traded in that I believe was from '50s EB-1.

I saw and played the one you have now and was surprised to learn that someone had traded in the near-mint one for it. But you made a good deal b/c the one you have now definitely sounded better to me.

Remind me to tell you about my 62 Strat sometime. On second thought, don't.

The one I have now was about as clean as you'll ever find, it had the telescoping end pin & all of the hang tags, (including a 75 year jubilee hangtag). It also had a clean yellow lined hardshell case. It felt like it was somewhat heavier than the one I traded in. I answered a classified add for an EB-1 a few years before, the guy said he had to sell it because he had back trouble & it was too heavy, I always assumed he passed away & his widow had it consigned at Willie's.

Maybe I have the two confused appearance-wise. As I recall it, the one that was there first, on consignment, was very clean, the second one (that you traded in on the first) was almost NOS new but didn't sound as good.

The one I traded in was in pretty nice shape, but not as nice as the one I have now. It's pretty much unplayed, the only flaw in the entire package was some rotten leather on the door for the case pocket. It is possible that the first one sounded better, it was lighter for sure.

I threw my EB-4 pup on ebay in case anyone wants it.  Bidding starts at a buck.  Good luck.
