I'm guessing you mean the Redneck, compainion to the Blackstar and Tuxedo. No, the first pic above is just a stock Red with black trim. The Redneck had a maple board painted red and tiny dot inlays instead of the triangles.

I once played a redneck in a shop, it looked horribly cheap (like a toy) and felt yucky. Worst Ric experience I've ever had (and that includes rubber neck 8 stringers and uneven string response 5 stringers!).

A responsible attempt at consumer protection: At least you could spot them from a distance and be warned.

They remind me of Ferraris. I'm not big on the red/BT look though. With chrome hardware and white pickguard/TRC, it would look killer. But then it wouldn't be a Redneck, would it?

Red Ricks are not uncommon, there were several of them on ebay last year, they don't seem to be a very popular color. I think they were made during the mid to late 80's. I don't like them myself.

Some of them sat in stores for years in the late 80s to early 90s.

I remember that when a new 360 was selling for about 900 (street price) in the early 90s, a friend bought a new red one for 500, it was NOS that had been in the store for several years and they were glad to get rid of it.

I remember JH saying that the reason he discontinued the Black Trim option in the mid 90's was because they were so unpopular. Especially on instruments finished in Red, Blue, White and Mapleglo.

Like Dave said, many dealers had them in stock for years cause they were butt ugly.

Red would look killer with standard trim - white binding, pickguard and TRC, and chrome hardware. There were a few made like that but they are very rare.
