Title: Washburn P pickup question
Post by: amptech on April 30, 2018, 08:58:15 AM
Hi, guys!

A friend just sent me an SMS...  An 80's washburn bass with a single P pickup.

Says it does not work (pup), it's  passive  but has 4 leads - black, white, blue, red. Crappy pics shows a standard tone+vol setup but vol have a push/pull switch.

I said just send the bass over, but it's not his... Anybody know this pickup, seems odd to phase split a P pickup. It has no visible poles, washburn logo in silver.

I think this must be a serial/parallel switch, makes more sense than a phase thingie.

Could be this arrangement .Uses Di marzio colour codes, not sure what your pickup is.

Without seeing the bass, I'd also guess series/parallel.

Yeah, the old Kramers have series/parallel for the P and J pups. The J coils were side by side.
