« on: February 03, 2010, 04:48:28 PM »I did notice the 60 cycle hum today when the darn thing would even tune when I stood directly before my Ampeg SVT! Before that I had noticed that it was noisy under some conditions, but never gave it much thought. Maybe the wiring is not quite alright I thought.

Or wire up a dummy coil in the control cavity if you have enough room.

I've always loved the SCPB sound, just never could love the big-necked basses they came in.
Somebody figured this out well.

Robert's right, if it came from a pre-HB Tele Bass the bobbin would be gray.

That's a 2000 series -- 2030, I think. I didn't care for them. The ones I played had uncomfortably wide and thick necks. They didn't have the usual Rick sound (or appearance, except for the headstock) and they were bolt-ons, so they never caught on with the Rick faithful.

It's better than using Triumph II, since that could cause confusion with the Gibson LP Triumph. OTOH the original Epi Zenith was a pre-Gibson hollowbody student grade archtop guitar. Why dredge up an old name that belonged to something different?
