Does anybody know anything about prices and history of this solid state Earth amp?

My first gig-able bass amp was that Earth head and 2-15 cab. Bought it in 1978(?) and it lasted years!
It's a total rip-off of Peavey, the cab even had the metal strips down the sides of the grill. I heard somewhere that Earth was started by a former Peavey employee/exec.
Cool to see a photo of it.

Never played one, but I heard that same story about the same time, and yes it certainly looks like a Peavey.

Could be a Peavey connection, obviously at least the external design is copied but I don't think the company was started by a former Peavey employee. From what I remember, there was a connection with Plush, which made tube amps in Kustom-style pleated enclosures starting in the late 60s. It may have been one of the partners in Plush who started Earth after Plush went belly up. I believe Earth used the former Plush factory.

All I can say is:

1) Looks like a Peavey
2) Any amp of that age which is still working ought to be a good one!

My first "real" bass amp was a tube Earth head and 18'' folded horn cabinet. Did the job, but there was NO high end coming out of that cab.

i have a Plush head the "Royal Bass" runs 4 6L6's sounds great but not very loud. i always thought that Plush and Earth were the same company.

Apparently the Earth designers got lost on the concept of what makes a graphic equalizer "graphic."

That's true...looks much more like a parametric.

Perhaps it's a "Pre-Graphic"?  (Fixed frequency, no graphic content.)

I found an unofficial Earth amps site with a forum and blog: http://earth.ampage.org/

Also an unofficial Plush amps site http://www.plush-amps.com/ but he's not sure of the official connection between Plush and Earth, if any.

Didn't Andy Fuchs (Fuchs Audio Technology) work for Plush for a time?  He'd probably be the one who could answer questions about a connection between the two companies.

I was in contact with a Plush collector, and while he could answer just about any question I had about Plush, he always evaded the Plush/Earth questions I would ask.
