Title: Faber PaddleBass
Post by: Chris P. on September 16, 2009, 02:43:06 AM
Hi guys,

A guy in Holland modified basses for a lot of years. After some prototyping he's going to make a very nice, but also very strange bass: The Faber PaddleBass. He's gonna build it in small quantities for a nice price. I will soon review one for the magazine.

At first I didn't think much about the looks, but after a while it grew on me and now I like it a lot. It's a bit Steinberger, a bit Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Bass, a bit machine gun, all blended. The body's mahogany and it has a series/parallel switch for the J-pick ups.

Well, watch for yourself:

I wish him well. It has some nice features and the price is reasonable. Unfortunately for him, looks do sell, and I will be surprised if that look has a wide appeal.

I think it looks goed in a Gretsch Bo Diddly kinda way:) The review bass will be vintage white with a tort plate.

Nice to see Arnoud took his own punk paddle hobby bass as a blueprint for this project.

He should show some pics from that frankenstein thing.
I've looked on the Dutch Bass forum but couldn't find them anymore...
