Amazing. If the people in the ad could walk 10 feet, it could be a whole new Mad Max movie.

Is there a hybrid version?

The problem with you Yanks is that you take everything so literally and at face value.
We already had a Goliath 80 years ago, it wasn't huge ...

... nor always welcome (as disruptive inventions tend to be):

Our little Sprengpanzer came both electric ...

... and fossil-fueled:

As usual, we were wildly ahead of things, yet economic about it.

Those rails make it look like a medieval torture device.

I've been saying for a few years that the big 3 are trying to make all their pickups look like semis. I hate the look.
Now I feel vindicated by seeing the next step in the trend's evolution!!

We Amis actually made beautiful cars once upon a time........
GM hasn't made a good looking car since the '78 Trans Am.
-
For all its technical inadequacies, a 70ies Corvette is still the most beautiful car ever built. It's just wow!

It corners just like a small building! ;D

     Brilliant!
I know, German auto magazines had a field day when they reviewed the C3 series at the time, one particularly scathing remark was "the Corvette's rear jumps like a kangaroo

on any less than perfectly even road surface, thoroughly sabotaging the sports car image".
You still look great in it if you are driving a straight line on a freshly paved road!

I had a 1991 BMW M3 that I took to the track a lot. On the way back from a track day, I was getting gas and some kid walked up to me and asked what my times were. I didn't understand what he meant, so he said 1/4 mile. I told him no, this was built for race tracks. He said, "Oh, it turns?"

Frank and I are watching old episodes of "Top Gear" (I didn't see it when it was new) and find it hilarious, their judgements of American cars are scathing, funny and all too true. Jeremy Clackson copping a U.S. accent has me in stitches!

;D That is indeed what an M3 is built to do!

I've only ridden in a Corvette once. When I was a teenager, a keyboardist friend had one. He loved it. But that was the most uncomfortable car I've ever ridden in. I once rode in a T-Model that someone had in his old cars collection that rode smoother than a Corvette.
-
Based on the question, I suggest that the one asking thought "BMW" means some kind of Bowel Movement....

I can relate. I sat in one too once and it was the opposite of comfy. Not just sporty-not-comfy, just awkward.

Her name was Patricia, it was the early 80ies and she came from Detroit. She was convinced that BMW, he favorite brand, stood for British Motor Works. She didn't mean it badly. I could never decide whether the injury or the insult content of that statement was greater.

'78 Trans Am? 70s Corvette? They're also-rans compared to GM's most beautiful: the Chevy Chevette.
-
In the '80s I worked with a guy and we were talking about cars. I asked what he drove. He said, "I have a Vette." After a long pause, he said, "Chevette."
-
Everyone I knew in Detroit referred to Trans Ams as "Trash Cans"; initially I thought that was their real name and wondered "what a strange name for a car, it must be hurting sales badly".
