Odd, to say the least...

Spotted this link on the same page when it came up... never knew CF Martin made ABG's...

The Martin's were popular in the early 90's not nearly as strong as the old Ernie's or Tacomas though.

a current new price i saw for a 2112 model was 1500. imo you can get a better bass at half the price, at least.

I'm sure this is every bit as good as any other Wishbass.  :vader:

I've seen a Wish in person. That assumption is painfully optimistic.

Agreed!  I always thought that it was a "let's make one too" deal from Martin.
Back to Wish bass
. . . I just don't get it!  I have never played one but they seem so poorly made that I would be ashamed to offer one for sale.

The Martin ABG's are pretty terrible. With plenty of old Epi El Capitans, Tacomas, and my personal favorite, the Jasmine by Takamine,(their bottom tier entry that sounds better than its upmarket brand mates) all outperforming the Martin for about a quarter of the cost, I think their market is for guitar snobs who will "only buy a Martin."

somehow he has achieved almost cultlike  status on TB.   But i think in reality it is more an amateur luthier thread about fixing and making them playable....  for 250 dollars you get some wood that is glued together in some very odd shapes  and combos that you can shave down,  sand and refinish into a very odd shaped cheap fretless bass that is just that.....

I'll bet most of those amateur luthiers are miles ahead of him in woodworking skills.

Sir, first you'll need to order the version with a control knob that doesn't work, then we'll stick a live tortoise on there. It's not good for playing metal but you can use it as a weapon when the crowd riots.
