Wig and gig pics from last weekend
« on: October 13, 2010, 10:06:49 PM »
This was our show to celebrate the DVD release of Ladies and Gentlemen.  We played the same songs that are in the movie, from the '72 tour.

Cheers

Will you mary a 16 year-old that later on jilts you for one of the Oasis brothers, Mark? I'm beginning to get worried.

(Scott - mark that up to another spooky coincidence :o) - I was just going to say exactly the same thing...!)

I missed out on an original when I played on a regular basis back in the day - always wanted to try one, and they look just so cool - probably one of those that looks better than they play...?

review please Mark...

The Dan Armstong reissue is an ugly looking bass in my opinion - I only bought it for this band.  That said, it is a very nicely made bass (they're made in Japan by Fujigen) with a really sweet neck.  Ergonomically it sits comfortably, not as heavy as the original plexis - this one weighs around 9.5lbs.  In the tone department the bass has a lot of low end authority, however it suffers from uneven volume across the strings, and the bridge saddles are not adjustable at all.  The D and G are significantly lower in volume than the other strings.  Also, being a single coil (actually a single coil with two taps - and a strange tone control arrangement where you can blend in the two taps) it has pretty nasty 60 cycle hum - as bad as a Jazz bass with one pickup.

Luckily I bought this one used and got a good price, because the sound quality really lets it down for the price they sell for new.

I've got a new wig in the works.  I figured with all these gigs coming in I could use some gig money to upgrade from my $15 eBay fancy dress wig.  I spent an hour at a custom wig shop yesterday trying on wigs and talking about how one could be customised to look like Bill.  These look much more realistic than my cheapo, and I'll have a new wig in a week or so.
Cheers

Don't forget, with that bass you can play naked and have twice the fun! :D

Can't the pup be taken off those and then the gaping hole left used for intrusion from behind to thus stroke the strings from underneath? With a little practice, results could be spectacular! P(r)ick player!
