String comparison sound clips from Ernie Ball
« on: July 17, 2009, 09:30:30 PM »
Ernie Ball has just come out with its own line of coated strings, and Ed Friedland has put up sound clips comparing coated Slinkys, conventional nickel Slinkys, Stainless Slinkys and Flatwounds, each with fingerstyle, pick and slap. Granted, it's only one brand, but it's a chance to hear the different types of strings all played on the same bass with the same setting.

From a thread at the EB/MM forum, all the samples were recorded on a MM Big Al using the middle pickup in passive mode.

Where are those soundclips? Can't find them via the link.

Almost halfway down the page there's a section with 12 sound clips right next to a photo of Ed.

It works fine for me in Firefox or Opera, but i just checked IE8 and there's nothing next to Ed's pic.

Everybody should have at least two browsers. There's always the occasional situation like this.

You might want to check it out at home then, IMO it's worth hearing the comparisons.
